Our Story

Sawmill Bay Shellfish is based on beautiful Quadra Island in British Columbia, Canada with farms located in the glacier-fed ocean waters of the Discovery Islands, our family business produces oysters and clams in an environmentally sustainable and ethical manner.

Fresh Oyster sales direct to restaurants and wholesalers have been our main stay for over 15 years .

We now have an exciting new line up of ready to cook products for supply to retailers , restaurants and direct to consumers via our on-line store.

Investment in modern smoking, freezing and canning equipment in our own CFIA registered processing plant has allowed us to transform our oysters into these delicious new products, harvested at the optimum time of year from pristine waters, you can enjoy our products with confidence.

Shellfish from Sawmill Bay has one of the lowest carbon footprints of any protein source-that's a fact!!

Sustainable oysters from Sawmill Bay

Sawmill Bay purchase oyster seed or spat from a hatchery on Vancouver island and grow it out on our farms over a 2 year period with no feed other than the naturally occurring plankton in the ocean and definitely no medication

This method is completely sustainable and ensure no depletion of wild stocks
